Festival Sapi Sono

Farmers dance their sapi (cow) down the field in competition for the most beautiful cows of the region at the annual Festival Sapi Sono'. Participants come from all four regions of Madura (Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, and Sumenep) and competitions began in the 1950s. Racing the cows the following day is a ritual that has been around since the 14th century. Stadion R. Soenarto Hadiwidjojo in Pamekasan, Madura, Indonesia.
